Sibur, Gazprom to invest $20 bln in Amur gas processing plant

ST. PETERSBURG, Jun 5 (PRIME) -- Russian petrochemical holding Sibur and gas giant Gazprom will invest U.S. $20 billion in construction of a gas processing plant in an advanced development territory in the Amur Region, Far East Development Minister Alexander Galushka said late on June 2 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“We expect that this advanced development territory will be created very soon. We are talking  about creating Russia’s largest gas chemical and gas processing plant in the Amur Region. This is one of the world’s largest investment projects. The $20 billion investment is only an initial investment that Sibur and Gazprom will invest,” he said.

The project will need “at least $10 billion more and about 100 projects will be implemented near this large anchor project,” he said.

The Amur gas processing plant, world’s largest helium producer, is to be launched in 2021.
